I haven't been able to update for several days because we're off on semi-vacation. My husband has a meeting in a beautiful, snowy locale, so we took a few extra days and went skiing. My daughter turns out to be somewhat of a natural, if lazy, skier, and my five years off from skis left me a little more cautious (which is difficult to imagine) but didn't take away my ability completely.
Mostly, it's been wonderful to see some snow, get away from the house, and do something completely different. I haven't even had any emails from my advisors, wondering where the tables are for the paper we're writing. Ahhh..... I think I like the concept of spring break.

Poor me

I'm glad you're having fun! Hurray for vacations! We have two and a half weeks to go before ours. I'm counting down.
That's great! Where did you end up deciding to go? I'm jealous of your no-kids vacation - it's embarrassing to admit this, but we've never been away from my daughter overnight. We just don't have the right grandparent situation to do it, and no one else is morally obligated to volunteer. Hope you have a wonderful time.
Thanks, Ruth. We're going on a Caribbean cruise. This is only the second time we've gone away w/out kids (that's almost 9 years...). Even with a really good grandparent situation, we both keep imagining these freak disasters that could happen while we're gone.
Hm. Actually, it's the third, if we count the very short weekend in New Orleans. Which I do, of course.
